At the age of 12, Gus Ben David opened his first animal exhibit with the help of his Uncle, Gus.
It was called, appropriately, the "Gus 'n Gus Wildlife Farm."
Gus is a third generation Vineyarder. He graduated from Martha's Vineyard Regional High School and then
the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of Massachusetts.
Following his service in the United States Army in 1966, Gus
began to build his wildlife collection. In 1969, he became the director of
Felix Neck Wildlife
Sanctuary. Gus is recognized worldwide as an aviculturist, falconer and herpetologist.
Now, over three decades later, Gus is finally realizing his dream of having his own wildlife educational
facility. He says,
"I have been educating children since I was young. After leaving Felix Neck, I hope continue to educate youth about the wonders of nature. With the help of his wife, Debbie, Gus established the World of Reptiles and Birds as a growing exhibition of world class reputation. It is truly something to be experienced.
It makes their lives richer. They become more appreciative and thus kinder."
